Golden Milk

Build Your Reserves, Celebrate and Calm Your Nerves with traditional “Milk and Honey”

How long will it take?

5 minutes.

What will I need?

For each serving…

  • 1 cup of milk or nut milk (we like almond or oat milk) for each serving

  • 1 tsp ground turmeric

  • 1/8-1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/8 tsp clove (optional)

  • 1/8-1/4 tsp cardamom

  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg (optional)

  • 1 tsp honey

  • 1 tsp ghee (optional)

How do I do it?

Warm the milk in a saucepan with the turmeric and other spices. Measure the honey into each mug so it doesn’t get heated but is simply warmed by the milk as you stir it in. Ghee is optional, helpful for soothing but may aggravate mucous or kapha related conditions. The sweet flavor of honey balances the warming spices and soothes pitta.

What’s the key?

The turmeric is the magic “golden” ingredient, but every addition has a purpose. Drink it warm and savor!
